The nearby Alpincenter is your port of call for various guided hiking and climbing tours.

UNTOUCHED SUMMIT WORLDS ÖTZTal NATURE PARK

There are many reasons why someone would want to lace up their hiking boots. It could be to tackle a peak, or maybe to discover places that you would not otherwise visit. Some want to conquer as many vertical meters as possible, while others prefer to hike from hut to hut and savour the many homemade delicacies on the numerous Alpine pastures. The Gurgl Valley is a true paradise of destinations for all hiking enthusiasts.

The Ötztal Nature Park with its glaciers and summits extends all around Obergurgl. The natural landmark that is the Obergurgl pine forest is relatively easy to reach from the village and yet always worth a visit. The Gurgler glacier, on which Auguste Piccard landed after his balloon altitude record in 1931, is located a little further away. The Langalereck Hut is situated in the rearmost part of the Gurgl Valley and offers its visitors a fantastic view of the glacier. You can rarely get as close to the ice giants of the Alps as here.

VIA FERRATA AND GLACIER WORLDS

The Gurgler Kamm UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is situated where the Gurgler glacier begins. There are also hiking destinations for non-mountaineers in this mountain massif. Those who wish to take it a little more leisurely during their hiking holiday still have many possibilities to move around in the mountain world of Obergurgl. The enthusiasm for via ferrata remains unbroken and there are two beautiful via ferrata in Obergurgl to enjoy in summer too. One of them in the area of the Swiss stone pine forest, the second, somewhat more difficult, in the Schwärzenkamm, access is behind the Langtalereck hut.

The Swiss stone pine forest climbing garden, which can be reached from the village after a short hike, is also ideal for a fun-filled climbing day for the whole family. The highest Nordic High Walking Trail in Europe can also be found here in Obergurgl. Simply staying here is like a small cure in itself. You can enjoy the wonderful fresh alpine air far away from the traffic and noise and do so much good for your body. The altitude of Obergurgl means that even allergy sufferers can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
